The ferry home

Its been a year since I moved back to the UK from Kagoshima, Japan but I still dearly miss seeing this attention-seeking volcano daily. Its power and beauty always captured my imagination as I steadily approached it at dawn on the ferry and when I left it by evening glowing from a post-work hot-spring bath.

Sakurajima volcano is one of the most active in the world and erupts several times a week.
