summer nights & the oarfish-viewing festivals

Giant oarfish have been one of my favourite animals for so many years and seeing the new and incredible footage of them on Netflix's 'Our Planet' series made me desperate to paint them again. These fish are the longest bony fish in the world and very little is known about them as they are so hard to encounter in the wild as the ocean is big and deep.
Also, i went to a local elementary school firefly festival here in Japan a month ago and it was so nice to see hundreds of adults and children as excited about insects as i am all the time. So here are both those things combined.
